Carol’s soil is much too wet and heavy for getting vegetables started early, her beans, she starts in toilet rolls then plants them out, toilet roll and all, in the early spring. Garlic is plants in modules to get them off to a flying start and potatoes, she chits, to get good strong shoots to develop before planting them out.
