Bartok: String Quartet No.6 (Sz 114)

Béla Bartók's String Quartet no.6 (Sz 114) was composed during dark times - the composer's mother was fighting her final illness, and the shadow of war loomed on Europe's horizon. Roger Nichols explores the numerous strands of this complex work with the help of musical examples specially recorded for the programme by the quartet ConTempo.
