Island nation

Our coastline has always inspired us and drawn us to it. What’s remarkable is that we’ve got so much of it! If you could stretch it out in a line it would reach all the way to Australia - 11,000 miles of cliffs, coves, bays and beaches. The rising seas created not just mainland Britain and Ireland, but thousands of other islands. All told, the British Isles contain 6,259 of them!
