Room Full Of Owls and Hey Bert
On this week's edition of BBC Introducing in Lancashire we’ve got a band that has travelled all the way from Alston/Penrith up in the Lake District, and some promoters from just down the road.
The band all the way from Cumbria is Room Full Of Owls. Together since 2008, the band have been playing up and down the country and have a list of memorable appearances to boast; from Solfest Festival in 2009 to 3000 people, to supporting the likes of Joy Formidable and The Airborne Toxic Event.
They describe themselves as an ambient, alternative, folk rock ensemble and are keen to get their music out there on BBC Radio Lancashire.
Room Full Of Owls consists of Tom on guitar, Robin on fiddle, Steve on drums, Jan on bass, and Fiona, the only lady, on vocals, guitar, and keyboard.
The band talked about their new single ‘Heart Beats’ which is out on 4 October and which they are currently filming a video for and their plans to follow it up with an EP release.
Also on the show were Alex and Helen from Hey Bert Promotions which is based Preston.
They both attended the University of Central Lancashire together and graduated this summer with a degree in Media Production and Technology.
Hey Bert is a gig promotion company within Preston based at The Variety which is a music venue near the Adelphi pub in Preston, close to Preston University library.
They are trying to encourage young bands to perform and are trying to provide a stage, as it were, for new music.
Gigs coming up include Northern Lights on 18 September at The Variety, The Oxjam event with ‘Best of Broth’.
Artists featured range from friends, students to unsigned north west bands including Inside View from Wigan and Fleeced Fete.
