Synopsis

A world of music in Oxfordshire with Marcos.

Rich Ward meets tribal leader Benny Wenda in Headington to hear about his musical struggle for West Papuan independence.

Marcos discovers the origins of the cajon (the box drum) with Mick Harding.

Plus musical magic from Jah Wobble, sounds from Brazil and an Indian raga from Ravi Shankar.

Benny Wenda and The Lani Singers

Benny Wenda and his wife Maria play together as The Lani Singers. They use ukelele, guitar and vocals to make politically charged music in a traditional West Papuan style.
