Pickled veg versus burgers
We'll be in rural Romania, hearing why people there think local food is better than global food.
What's the attraction of pickled vegetables, country jams and sheep's cheese, compared to say Coca Cola and McDonald's?
Why is it good to turn tradition into business and encourage people to grow and sell locally produced food? One company involved in this process is the Adept Foundation. Their project's had backing and funding from the Romanian and UK governments. Its director Jim Turnbull told Sheila Dillon why food and farming in Transylvania deserved special attention.
And Chef Mark Hix goes on a food adventure that's more adventurous than most, travelling with a group of food specialists in the last of Europe's medieval landscapes, over 21,000 square miles at the heart of Romania.
