Iman Muda

"Iman Muda" or Young Leader is the new reality television programme taking Malaysia by storm. Currently half way through its series run, it's the most-watched programme ever on its Islamic-themed cable channel and has nearly 30,000 Facebook fans/friends. They've been following the young men, who all want to be an Iman, go through tasks such as preparing a corpse for burial and counselling unmarried pregnant women. The BBC's correspondent in Kuala Lumpur, Jennifer Pak tells Bidisha all about it.

ANJALI JOSEPH

Saraswati Park is the debut novel from Indian born writer Anjali Joseph. Set in Bombay, it explores love, loss and internal life, as we follow Mohan, a letter writer who longs to write books and his teenaged nephew Asish, trying to come to terms with his own sexuality. Bidisha spoke to Anjali about the novel, and how it feels to have been named in a list of the top 20 authors under 40, before the book was even published.

2010 Sigana International Storytelling Festival

Recently storytellers and enthusiasts from around the world gathered in Nairobi to celebrate the international love of telling a good tale and to practice their art. The Strand's Kevin Mwachiro went along to have a listen.
