As BBC Radio 5 live BBC Radio Derby joins BBC Radio 5 live.

ON NEXT : 06:00 Andy Potter

Having arrived at BBC Radio Derby in the 1990s on a work placement, Aleena always fancied working on mid-morning as a producer, so went off to study journalism.

But fate lent a hand and she arrived on the other side of the studio glass as a presenter.

After almost three years on the lunchtime show, she was relieved to be able to eat her sandwich at a more leisurely pace, rather then getting indigestion during the one o'clock news.

However, her passion for good food followed her into the programme, with regular appearances from guest chefs and celebrity cooks.

In fact she's determined to celebrate the things that unite us all, from eating and sleeping to the place we call home, but Aleena believes the spice of life lies in the differences between us - and it's an area she's keen to explore.

We thought her knowledge of Derbyshire and East Staffordshire was bordering on the encyclopaedic, but she says she's keen to expand it even further on the mid-morning programme.

On Sundays, Aleena presents Take Two - a collection of highlights from BBC Radio Derby's last seven days.

Outside of work Aleena and her partner are keen scuba divers, exploring wrecks and reefs around the UK coast and love to take their black Labrador long walks in the Peak.
