Duration: 2 hours, 15 minutes

The twenty ninth annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from Kirchberg Theatre in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.

It was Sweden's turn to take the title with "Diggi-Loo Diggi Ley" sung by The Herreys whose golden shoes have since become a cult classic in the world of Eurovision. Sweden were underdogs in the contest with bookies placing their bets with Ireland, Italy and the United Kingdom to win.

It marked a second victory for Sweden, and the first for a song performed in Swedish as Abba's "Waterloo" was sung in English.
