Chris Packham meets naturalist Ron Hoblan in Thetford Forest one of the finest places in Britain to see woodarks. The best time is spring. The areas where the conifers have been cut down and there is some vegetation is perfect woodlark habitat. They are Britain's best songster after the nightingale. They are ground nesters and Ron has a license to approach them, which is not normally permitted. The chicks are perfectly camouflaged and keep still when their parents sound the alarm.
