On Today’s programme: Damon Galgut; Dogtooth; Ether Books; Tel Aviv Artists;
Damon Galgut
Harriet speaks to the South African writer about his new book, In a Strange Room, a novel based on the author's travels. He discuses the fluidity of memory, why he won't be in Cape Town during the World Cup, and how his childhood battle with cancer led to a love of writing.
Short stories from the Ether
This week sees the launch of ether-books, a download service for short stories. Jonathon Kent looks at the impact that this could have for both readers and writers around the world as well as for those in countries with a short story tradition.
Dogtooth
Critic Ninos Mikelides reviews Dogtooth, one of the strangest yet most arresting films of the year, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Set in Greece it focuses on a dysfunctional family who shield their children from the outside world.
Tel Aviv Artists
Photo: The Sun is Coming out... by Yochai Matos
Tel Aviv is Israel's vibrant, exciting cultural centre. For the first time, a group of seven contemporary artists from the city feature in an exhibition in London. Harriett Gilbert visits the Jaffa Cakes TLV show, talks to curator Yasmine Datnow and featured artists Yochai Matos and Nogah Engler and finds that things are not necessarily as they first appear.
