Black panthers

In the farmland and rice paddies of rural south Asia, black leopards or panthers can be found. The black colour is just a recessive gene, like red hair. Many were captured for the pet trade in the West until keeping leopards as pets was banned. These rural predators will hunt any small wildlife, like ducks or rats, but farmers claim they also hunt a lot of livestock and so they persecute them. But most people will never see the leopards they live with. Always one step ahead, the leopards hide, trying to avoid giving themselves away.
