Love is in the air

Duration: 02:35

Having fought off the rest of the males competing for Mohican's attentions, the huge bull elephant Rommel has timed his advances to perfection. Mohican is at the peak of her fertility and Rommel follows her closely until she slows down and he places his trunk on her back in a signal for her to stop. The surrounding herd trumpets their excitement as the mating takes place. With luck Mohican's mating will result in a new baby for the herd two years down the line. As the herd follows Rommel away, it's clear he has impressed both Mohican and the rest of the elephants.
