Synopsis
As the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall approaches, World Football has a special programme on the impact this historic event had on the sport in Germany.
Presenter Alan Green talks to the former chief executive of UEFA Gerhard Aigner. He was in charge of football in Europe at the time the wall came down and recounts the dramatic changes that took place.
We're also investigate what football was like in Germany before 1989 and what's happened to the leading football clubs in the former East Germany?
Plus, we hear from the first East German to score for the unified German Team - Andreas Thom.
Union Berlin Football Stadium
The Stadium at Union Berlin just after a vital win for the home side over FSV Frankfurt 1-0. Union one of the only clubs from the former East Germany to have moderate success, since the fall of the Berlin Wall and socialism, 20 years ago.
