The entire programme is devoted to music from the Caribbean starting with a 10-minute track celebrating Haiti’s best known band leader Nemours Jean-Baptiste. The opening of a classic track from 1938 by the Cuban group Conjunto Casino might well surprise fans of Ray Charles. Bill O Men from the Antilles show off their verbal playfulness; Nuestros Lazos by Ramon Cordero from the Dominican Republic remains one of Charlie’s favourites; and seductive Parkway Rock from Trinidadian Rootsman completes this week’s playlist.
