LISTEN
Suzanne Bamborough sits in with local and national news, travel, weather and sport.
Allison Ferns ... weekdays from 1300 on BBC Sussex.
Allison certainly had a variety of jobs before arriving at BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey and piers have featured heavily!
She sold cockles on Brighton's Palace Pier and performed on the end of Eastbourne pier as part of the girl group - Klassy with a K - well at least the fishermen enjoyed it!
She was also a Butlins Redcoat as well as enjoying a stint as an autocue operator, a job which involved helping Bryan Adams and Tom Jones remember the words to their songs on Top of The Pops!
Following a law and politics degree, Allison embarked on an internship with Tony Blair at No 10 - but not in the Monica Lewinsky sense of the word, before studying for her journalism qualifications.
She was also a dance teacher for a few years as well as having a few very small acting parts - small being the operative word - rumour has it you can see the back of her head in the film, Bridget Jones Diary!
After a successful spell in commercial radio, she joined BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey as a travel reporter before working her way up through the ranks to present the Afternoon Show.
In 2009, Allison won a Silver Sony - one of the radio industry's most prestigious awards and was also shortlisted for the Nick Clarke award for the best broadcast interview of 2008.
Allison is married to Paul and when they are not working they enjoy eating, drinking, socialising and going on holiday.
