Carl is a proud Brummie, a history professor and has been awarded an MBE. Born and bred in Birmingham, his Mom is from Aston, his Dad from Sparkbrook, and Carl was born in the exotic Sorrento hospital in Moseley. 1986 saw Carl gain his Ph.D. (after spending time as a bookmaker) and he is now Director of the Birmingham Lives multimedia archive at South Birmingham College. Carl writes a weekly local history column in the Birmingham Evening Mail and edits the popular Carl Chinn's Brummagem Magazine. He also writes for the Express and Star.
