Born in Liverpool, Kaval emigrated to India at the age of three with his family.

Kaval returned to the UK in the early eighties to study for his higher education.

He joined BBC Radio Nottingham in 1989 to launch Dhamaka, our specialist programme aimed at younger listeners from the Asian community.

Away from the microphone Kaval's day job is as a management trainer for one of our local authorities.

A family man, married to Nina, he has a daughter, Priya.
