Richard's journey to London Below
An act of kindness catapults Richard from his ordinary life into a subterranean world.
"Not a hospital, please. They'll find me. Take me somewhere safe. Please."
Richard stops to help a girl named Door.
"Turn right into Hanway Street, left into Hanway Place, then right into Orme Passage."
Door's instructions for Richard
"You don't ask questions. You don't get answers. You don't stray from the path."
Marquis de Carabas leads Richard to London Below.
"Anaesthesia. This Upworlder needs to be taken to the Floating Market."
In the tunnels of London Below Lord Ratspeaker sends Anaesthesia to escort Richard.
"Darkness is happening....Now is the time to be afraid of the dark."
Hunter leads Richard across the treacherous Night's Bridge.
"Oh my god. The Floating Market is in Harrods?"
Richard Mayhew discovers the world of London Below is intertwined with his own.
"Temple and Arch - Richard? I don't believe it. What are you doing here?"
Door is appalled to find that Richard has returned to London Below.
"Is this like, 'Earl's Court' isn't just a tube station?"
Richard takes a tube journey unlike any other he's been on before.
"Uh - There isn’t A British Museum station."
Richard and Door travel to the British Museum to locate the citadel of the legendary Angel
"A picture of an Angel. Somewhere in all these hundreds of pictures of angels."
Richard and Door's search for the Angel of Islington isn't as simple as they thought.
"The wine ... is it me or is it ... glowing?"
The Angel of Islington shares a glass of wine with Richard and Door.
"Halloooo? The party’s over. No-one here but us and the Angels."
A very drunk Richard & Door stumble around the British Museum.
"He was showing me locks. They all want to open, you know. You just have to know how to show them."
Door dreams of her father Lord Portico
"Hold fast. Tell me your names, and your stations."
Richard Mayhew. Wet.
"No problem, traveller. But if you set foot on this bridge, you must accept the challenge."
Richard, Door & Hunter have to agree to take the challenges to obtain the key.
"No I'm not. I'm you. Talking to yourself. You're sitting on Blackfriars station talking to yourself."
Richard's ordeal at Blackfriars station.
"That piece of string isn’t going to be safe."
Door looks after the key that Richard won from the friars.
"When you said the Floating Market was in Belfast. You meant this Belfast?"
Richard and Door go to the Floating Market to look for a guide.
"I don't belong in this world. But I have to go home. Back to my life."
Richard leaves London Below to return to his 'real' life.
