Analysis conducted for Eye on Wales has revealed the extent of the rapid growth of solar farms across the country.
Three years ago Wales had no large-scale, ground-based solar farms.
But since the first one began generating electricity in August 2011 at least a further 20 solar farms have been built.
Twenty-five more are in the process of being built or have planning permission while plans for a further 13 are in the planning system.
But could the drive to solar energy could be about to be stalled by changes to the subsidies they attract?
Felicity Evans investigates in the first of a new series.
