George Porter Jr of The Meters

Duration:
3 hours
First broadcast:
Saturday 26 April 2014

Legendary Meters bassist George Porter, Jr. will be Craig's guest. Porter formed the group in the mid 1960s and came to be recognized as one of the progenitors of funk. He's a busy guy as he has his own group the Runnin' Pardners, and also other projects such as The Trio with Johnny Vidacovich, New Orleans Social Club, Deep Fried and Porter Batiste Stoltz. Throughout this year Craig has set himself the challenge of charting the history of women in funk and soul, starting off Billie Holiday through to Amy Winehouse.
