Katya Virshilas

Katya Virshilas has danced in three series of BBC One’s hugely successful Strictly Come Dancing, partnering Phil Tufnell, Gavin Henson and Daniel Lobb. Born in Lithuania, Katya moved with her parents to Israel when she was 6 years old, and then to Vancouver in Canada at the age of 13. She’s been dancing since she could walk, and competing in dance competitions since she was a teenager. In 2006 she won the Canadian Latin Dance Championships and then competed at the World Championships in St Petersburg. She's coached Hollywood stars Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez for the 2003 film “Shall We Dance” and danced a tango with Antonio Banderas in the 2006 film “Take the Lead”. Now based in the UK, Katya is about to embark on a national tour with fellow "Strictly" dancer Pasha Kovalev.
