A' toirt fàs air an fhàsach/The Man who Stopped the Desert

Ann am Burkina Faso, bha am fàsach a' meudachadh 's na raointean torrach a' lùghdachadh. Bha seo ag adhbhrachadh crainnteachd agus dìth arbhair, agus air sgàth seo, bha an t-uabhas de dhaoine a' gluasad air falbh bhon sgìre.

Ach thionndaidh aon tuathanach - neach gun fhoghlam à leabhraichean - an suidheachadh air a' cheann. Le modhan-obrach inntinneach, chuir e casg air an fhàsach - rud a dh'fhàilich air na eòlaichean.

Tha am fiolm seo ag innse sgeulachd iongantach Yacouba Sawadogo, na h-oidhirpean aige thairis air na bliadhnachan, agus mar a tha iad air mòr-atharrachadh a thoirt air bheatha nam mìltean de dhaoine.

In Burkina Faso the rapid desertification of once fertile plains caused droughts and ruined harvests, sparking a mass exodus of inhabitants and famines that decimated populations.

Yet one illiterate peasant farmer and his ingenious farming methods have proved the key to achieving what experts have failed to do: stop the desert. This documentary tells the unique story of Yacouba Sawadogo, whose years of toil have transformed the lives of thousands.
