Tom chats to UK production duo Mark Rae and Steve Christian, who've recently released their 3rd album Mercury Rising, their first since 2001's Sleepwalking.
The duo originated in Manchester and formed their own label Grand Central records. They shot into the spotlight in 1998 with their debut album Northern Sulphuric Soul, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Whilst this album was heavily sampled based, the follow up Sleepwalking featured more live instrumentation and more varied songwriting partnerships with veteran musicians such as Bobby Womack, Tania Maria and The Congos. The duo pursued separate projects following that album, and have worked on the new album over the last 4 years.
Huw Stephens from Radio 1 shares his personal tip from BBC Introducing, as does one of the Introducing shows from around the UK.
At 11 o'clock Tom launches The After Hour, where he dusts off tracks from the outer reaches of his record collection.
