    caspar milquetoast

Milquetoast - a very timid, unassertive, spineless person, especially one who is easily dominated or intimidated. The word came in to common useage because of the comic strip character Caspar Milquetoast, a timid man named after the timid food, although creator HT Webster changed the spelling of milk to milque.
