Supersonic Rocket Ship

Johnnie Walker celebrates the decade of Mainwaring, Wilson and Pike.

This week he travels to leafy Crouch End in London to meet Ray Davies at Konk, one of the UK's most famous recording studios. Built in the early seventies, it was the band's home for the decade and also saw artists including Thin Lizzy and the Bee Gees record there. Alongside the history of the studio, Johnnie will cover the music of The Kinks in the seventies and the ambitious records they put together there.

Also on the show, the anniversary of Elvis Costello quitting his day job to take up music is celebrated with sounds from the archive, and the lid gets lifted on Johnnie's Jukebox to add another classic single.
