First broadcast:

The engaging Barry Colford, Chief engineer and bridgemaster of the Forth Road Bridge gives a fascinating insight into a job which requires him to be all things to all people. He tells edi Stark that seeing the Erskine Bridge being built inspired him to become a civil engineer although his father, a mechanical engineer with Rolls Royce felt it an 'inferior' engineering choice. He talks about his early career in Saudi Arabia and Nigeria before working for Strathclyde and Forth Road Bridge.
