"If Rich showed an interest in the farm, do you think Tom would assassinate him?"#AskTom

If Rich showed an interest in the farm, do you think Tom would assassinate him? #AskTom
    Tom says:
"I think Tom would love to have a protege. I think if Rich showed an interest Tom would have him mucking out the pigs for minimum wage under the rubric of being his 'apprentice'."

"How far in advance do you record the Archers?" from Lucie Melen on Facebook

    Tom says:
"We record roughly 3-6 weeks ahead of broadcast. We get the scripts the week before recording so we can see what's in store for our characters when we're in Birmingham in studio the following week."

"Are you enjoying showing a more emotionally tortured side to Tom as Brenda drops the bombshell?"

    Joyce
@BBCTheArchers #AskTom Are you enjoying showing a more emotionally tortured side to Tom as Brenda drops the bombshell? #TheArchers
    Tom's answer:
"Certainly. Tom can be a sausage bore whose drive can blinker him to what's going on around him at times. As was proven tonight! It's lovely for me as an actor to get to reveal Tom's emotional depths. He really loves Brenda and will do all that he can to make their relationship work."

"How do you feel about being part of such a British institution?" Adrian on Facebook

    Tom says:
"Incredibly lucky. I feel really proud to have been part of the show for such a long time. I have grown up through and alongside Tom Archer and I hope he will reign as sausage king for many years to come."

"Well done Brenda! Tom, do you accept your character has been a pain?" Denis by email

    Tom says:
"Errrr... yes. I can't really wriggle out of that one. He has been a pain at times but I love him for it."

"Similar to you, I took over the family butchers shop/sausage emporium and had many years of fighting my dad from the controls. Are you slightly relieved now to have the whiphand in the business?" John by email.

    Tom says:
"I think Tom's head is elsewhere at the moment but it's definitelty what he wanted, to get Pat and Tony's support (finally!). He's always had his gran fighting his corner and believing in his ideas. She's a wise lady!"

"If you had to write a storyline what would be your most outrageous suggestion?"

    mcgreggors-deb
#askTom If you had to write a storyline what would be your most outrageous suggestion?
    Tom says:
"I love The Archers because it is true to life and some of the best scenes just depict ordinary day to day village life. If The Archers became outrageous it wouldn't be the Archers. That said, maybe there could be a reality TV spin off, The Only Way is Ambridge."
