Ian is holding the “Promise Chalice and Paten”. Sent 400 years ago this year, the gifts were the London Companies' way of promising that they’d build a cathedral in Londonderry.
1st Derry Presbyterian Church
This church is known as “the Presbyterian Church in the Bogside”.
The site was bought with a gift of money from Queen Mary and was the first time the Presbyterians had their own Meetin’ House within the walls – and it didn’t go down too well with the Anglicans up the hill!
