  • Today's Brainteaser Answer

Listener Brainteaser from: David GP Williams

Puzzle: Take the initial letter of each of these three composers' first names, to give you the first three letters of another composer's surname. We played The Bells – a keyboard piece by (William) Byrd; then (Antonio) Vivaldi’s Winter from the Four Seasons; and finally Dixit Dominus by (George F. ) Handel, which gave the letters W-A-G, for WAGNER.

    The music played:

    The Bells
    Trevor Pinnock (harpsichord)
    CRD 3307

‘Winter’ (2nd mvmt), from the Four Seasons
    Andrew Manze (violin)
    Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra
    Ton Koopman (director)
    ERATO 94811

    Dixit Dominus (opening)
    The Sixteen Choir and Orchestra
    Harry Christophers (conductor)
