Ivan Hewett presents the first of two concerts by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and their Artist-in-Association Matthias Pintscher at the 2012 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Each of the three works has a soloist, with music by Pintscher himself alongside UK premieres by Wolfgang Rihm and the Festival's featured composer Maja Ratkje. Plus a bonus piece celebrating Witold Lutoslawski's centenary next Friday with a performance from the last concert he ever conducted, in 1993.
