They were the generation who wanted to die before they got old, but Scotland's pubs and halls are populated by groups of middle aged men refusing to lay down their guitars and put on their slippers.
You can find them most Saturday nights singing with bandmates they've played with since they were good looking.
In their younger years they dreamed their future would be made of fame and fortune, though these ambitions were subsequently put on hold for the sake of a stable income and a quiet marriage.
In this documentary Edi Stark meets meets two very different Scottish bands to find out what drives them on.
