This week we explore the institution of marriage and how it has evolved since the 16th century. Presenter, Bill Whiteford and genealogist, Professor Bruce Durie take a trip to the romance capital of Scotland, Gretna Green. One in five of all marriages in Scotland are held in the south west town. The team investigates a query from one listener whose ancestor used to work there in 1825. And we discover that love and marriage haven't always been intertwined.
