As we posed the question "have you ever come face to face with a dangerous animal?"

How about a scary notice? When walking in a remote corner of Yosemite in California, we came across a sign saying, "Mountain Lion Country. If attacked fight back." Delighted to say we didn't need to fight but had to jump when a snake swam straight at me in the river. JB

Not quite a croc or a snake but I was acting as a ghillie during the stag season. The shot beast got back up, less than happy about being shot, put the stalker in the air and legged it. The guest didn't stop running until he got hit by a bus. David.

Sleeping outside in Yosemite National Park. Woke up face to face with a bear. Luckily it sniffed me and wandered off. Rachel in Edinburgh.

Hi folks, I had a scary experience with a Shetland pony which doesn't sound too bad until he nudged me into the electric fence and I got 10000 volts up my bum! From Craig in Dumfries

BACK IN 1980, I WAS ONE OF FOUR YOUNG GLASGOW GUYS OUT IN KENYA TO CLIMB MOUNT KENYA (17,500FT), AND HAVE SOME REALLY CHEAP SAFARI ADVENTURES... AND WE HAD PLENTY OF THEM!

WE CAME FACE TO FACE WITH SEVERAL DANGEROUS ANIMALS. WHILST CLIMBING THROUGH THE MT. KENYA FOREST, THE ONE ANIMAL WE HAD BEEN WELL WARNED ABOUT, THE BUFALO, JUMPED OUT OF THE TREES IN FRONT OF US AND JUST STOOD ON THE TRACK STARING AT US. WITH 60LB RUCKSACKS ON OUR BACKS, WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO STAND STILL AND HOPE IT WOULD NOT ATTACK US. ABOUT 30MINS LATER, THE HUGE ANIMAL STROLLED BACK INTO THE THICK WOODS. IT HAD BEEN A VERY NERVOUS STAND OFF.

LATER, WHILST CAMPED AT 11,000FT, A LEOPARD ATTACKED AND KILLED A BABOON VERY CLOSE TO WHERE WE LAY IN A VERY SMALL TWO MAN TENT. WE WERE TERRIFIED LISTENING TO THE SCREAMS AND ROARS WHICH WERE VERY CLOSE TO OUR WEE TENT. WE HAD ICE AXES AT THE READY, BUT I DOUBT THEY WOULD HAVE DONE US MUCH GOOD IF THAT LEOPARD HAD DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE TENT TOO.

A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, WHILST TOURING THE MASSAI MARA RESERVE IN A HIRED DATSUN 120 CAR, WE STOPPED AS A GROUP OF LARGE VULTURES STOOD ON THE ROUGH TRACK BEFORE US. I JUMPED OUT TO GET A PHOTO, WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A VERY LOUD ROAR.
JUST A FEW YARDS TO THE SIDE OF ME, A COUPLE OF FULLY GROWN LIONS WERE SITTING IN THE LONG YELLOW GRASS, DEVOURING SOME POOR DEAD ANIMAL. I HADN'T EVEN SEEN THEM, SUCH WAS THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THEIR COATS AND THAT GRASS!! SCARY!!

WE THEN GOT LOST DEEP IN THE RESERVE. TWO OF MY FRIENDS WALKED TO A HIGH POINT TO SEE OUR LOCATION. AS THEY APPROACH SOME BUSHES, A GROUP OF LIONS STROLLED OUT OF THE BUSHES TOWARDS THEM... THEY RAN SO FAST BACK TO OUR CAR! LUCKILY, THE LIONS DID NOT FEEL LIKE FOLLOWING, BUT BOY, DID WE LAUGH AS THEY SPRINTED BACK TOWARDS US. THE LOOK IN THEIR EYES WAS UNFORGETTABLE! 1980 IN KENYA WAS SOME ADVENTURE!
