The Exultate Singers
Exultate Singers is an accomplished chamber choir of 40 singers based in Bristol, founded in September 2002 by its conductor, David Ogden. The choir has gone on to perform in more than 150 concerts, broadcasts on BBC Radios 2, 3, 4, the World Service and Classic FM, has appeared on BBC's Songs of Praise and The One Show and has made 4 CD recordings. Childrens Choir
This choir of children came together especially for this Songs of Praise recording, under conductor David Ogden. They children come from two separate choirs from the Bristol area, Westbury on Trym Parish Church Choir and Bristol Schools Chamber Choir, and range from 8 to 18 years of age. The Military Wives
The Military Wives became a household name following the creation of the original choir on BBC Two programme The Choir, which featured choirmaster Gareth Malone. There are now branches of the choir all over the UK and all members are the wives or partners of British military personnel. -
INTERVIEWEES
Sheila Hancock
Sheila is one of the nation’s best-loved actors and has made numerous stage and television appearances during her long career. Sheila has spoken of her love of poetry in the past and how it helped her when grieving for the loss of her husband, the late actor John Thaw.
Sir Derek Jacobi
Sir Derek forged his career in the theatre, and is well-known for his many different stage roles as well as his countless appearances on the big screen. Sir Derek has also recorded poetry audio books and has taken part in poetry recitals in London’s West End. He is currently starring in ‘Last Tango in Halifax’ on BBC One.
Carol Ann Duffy
Duffy is the current Poet Laureate. Her latest collection of poems is called ‘The Bees’. Duffy wrote the words to The Manchester Carols, which are available on CD from the Naxos label. -

This Christian community is made up of the congregations from two churches; St Alban’s C of E Church and Westbury Park Methodist Church. The main Sunday act of worship takes place in the building of St Alban’s, which is where this Songs of Praise recording took place.
