SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK – Certificate 15
In this family drama, comedy and love story based on the novel by Matthew Quick, Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything - his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months is a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life and reunite with his wife when he meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, and things get complicated.
GAMBIT – Certificate 12A
Private art curator Harry Deane (Colin Firth) devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England's richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Alan Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Cameron Diaz) to pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.
THE HOUSE I LIVE IN
From the dealer to the narcotics officer, the inmate to the federal judge, this documentary film offers a penetrating look inside America's criminal justice system, revealing the profound human rights implications of U.S. drug policy.
LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (Digitally Restored Director’s Cut) – Certificate PG
50th anniversary cinema, DVD & BlueRay re-release
David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia is a masterpiece. Over the years the film was heavily cut, but in 1988 a reconstruction of the film was undertaken. Lean and original editor Anne V. Coates then worked on the film to create his Director’s Cut - which has now been digitally restored.
One of the screen's grandest epics the film recounts the true life experiences of T.E. Lawrence, better known to the world as Lawrence of Arabia. A young, idealistic British officer in WWI, Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) is assigned to the camp of Prince Feisal (Alec Guinness), an Arab tribal chieftain and leader in a revolt against the Turks.
