Dame Cleo Laine

Duration:
57 minutes
First broadcast:
Tuesday 23 October 2012

Jamie Cullum plays an hour of jazz music ranging from its heritage to its future.

This week, Jamie is joined by one of the most important artists in UK jazz, the singer and actress Dame Cleo Laine. The pair talk about her incredible career in jazz, from joining the band of her husband, the late Sir John Dankworth, to her rise to fame and working with artists such as Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

As a special celebration for her 85th birthday, Jamie joins Cleo and her son, the bassist Alec Dankworth, at the piano to perform together for the first time.
