Disability Living Allowance
There are close to 125,000 people of working age in Wales who qualify for Disability Living Allowance.
The benefit is designed to help people with a disability meet the extra costs of overcoming the barriers to an active life in society.
But from next year - as part of the Government’s wider welfare reforms – DLA is to be replaced by a new Personal Independence Payment.
Ministers say that the new benefit is designed to ensure that those most in need continue to get support.
But fewer people are expected to qualify for the new benefit and disabled rights campaigners are concerned about the potential impact of the changes.
