First International Day of the Girl
Today is the first International Day of the Girl, designated by the United Nations. Jenni is joined by Marie Staunton, Chief Executive of PLAN UK and Caroline Harper, Head of the Overseas Development Institute’s Social Development programme.

Judy Finnigan
Judy Finnigan is well known as the queen of daytime TV after 21 years on screen with her husband Richard Madeley. However she is equally known as a champion of fiction with her hugely successful Richard and Judy Book Club. In 2009 she finally gave up TV, but the book club continued, and now she’s having a go at writing herself with the publication of her first novel, Eloise. In her book, the main character explores her friend’s mysterious past after she dies of breast cancer and appears as a ghost in her dreams. It’s a work of fiction, but it’s inspired by the death of the TV presenter Caron Keating, with whom she was close. Judy Finnigan joins Jenni to talk about turning author, the relationships and experiences off screen which inspired her book, and her life today away from daytime TV.

Australian PM Julia Gillard
After speaker of the House Peter Slipper, a key ally to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, resigned over crude, sexist text messages sent to a staffer, Australian opposition leader Tony Abbott was quick to tie Slipper's sexism to Gillard. Gillard responded with a blistering 15 minute speech branding him a sexist and misogynist and said "he doesn't need a motion in the House of Representatives, he needs a mirror." Kate Green MP is no stranger to parliamentary plain speaking – she spoke out against the sale of Top Totty beer in the Westminster bar - and tells Jenni why Julia was magnificent!
