Clare Teal presents the best in big band sounds - this week with a Duke Ellington theme as performed by other jazz and big band greats including Lionel Hampton, Charlie Barnet, Glenn Miller and Jack Parnell. Also featuring vocal performances from Nat 'King' Cole, Dinah Washington and Mel Torme.

Nowadays regarded as one of the 20th Century's greatest composers Duke Ellington's 50 year career from the 1920's until his death in 1974 saw the creation of some of the most memorable themes of that era. Many of these are featured here including Rockin' in Rhythm, Mood Indigo, Things Ain't What They Used to Be, Caravan, Sophisticated Lady and Don't Get Around Much Anymore.
