The Tour Guide's Guide To Art - The Teddy Bear Museum, Dorchester

Museum manager Tim Batty on his favourite part of The Teddy Bear Museum, in Dorchester.

“One of the fascinations of the Teddy Bear Museum is that the teddy bears are displayed within the ‘home’ of Edward Bear and his family of human size bears. Uncle Baloo who is playing the Dulcitone is for me the best of these bears and a favourite with visitors. His face is full of character and the sound of Dulcitone is just lovely.

The museum’s oldest teddy bear, called Michael, is very special. He was made by the Ideal Co in 1906 and is based on the original pattern, establishing a firm link with the very first bear."
