Presented by Lenny Henry and Kirsty Young, The BBC 999 Awards recognise the tireless work of the UK's emergency service heroes. Since the 999 emergency number came into action 75 years ago, the police, fire and rescue, ambulance, coastguard and mountain rescue services have saved millions of lives. These awards acknowledge the heroic acts that the officers and volunteers of the emergency services perform on a daily basis, highlighting individuals and teams whose actions have exceeded the call of duty to help save lives and ensure the public's safety.
