A Viennese Whirl

Ken Bruce presents a 'Viennese Whirl' from the Watford Colosseum. An evening devoted to the music of Vienna featuring works from the pens of no less than three Strauss', Franz Lehar, Franz Von Suppé and Karl Millöcker to name just a few. The BBC Concert Orchestra, under the baton of its Principal Guest Conductor Austrian Johannes Wildner, are joined by the soprano Rebecca Bottone as they take a musical journey through Austria's beautiful city Vienna - once known as the European capital of classical music.

In tonight's interval, Tom Sandars explores how the city came to be the hub of European classical music and why performers feel Viennese music still has such power.
