I Wanna Be A Cosmonaut

Duration:
1 hour, 56 minutes
First broadcast:
Sunday 29 April 2012

Johnnie spins the hits and digs out the rarities from the decade of big hair, big flares and big riffs and Billy Bragg joins him to share his memories of the decade.

Bragg formed a punk band, Riff Raff, towards the end of the 70s and released a number of singles. His formative musical experiences came from watching Dr. Feelgood, and he talks about the influence Wilko Johnson had on him and the realisation that you didn't have to be cool to be a musician. He also talks about his love of artists including Jackson Browne, The Selecter and Bob Marley, and the output of the legendary Stiff record label.

Also on the show, Johnnie spins tracks from a classic LP from the 70s.
