Matt Baker and Ellie Harrison are in Cornwall, discovering parts of the county that people rarely get to see.

Matt heads underground to find out about the history of the area's famous miners, and hears about plans to start digging all over again. Ellie goes underwater to explore an old naval frigate, deliberately sunk to create a rich marine habitat.

Meanwhile, John Craven investigates why our love of chicken is actually increasing the risk of getting serious food poisoning. And Adam Henson finds out about a new disease that could have a devastating impact on this year's lambing season.

  • Matt Goes Underground

    Matt Goes Underground

Matt Baker explores the history of the once thriving tin mines of Cornwall, delving deep into the subterranean maze of tunnels that lie beneath the county. In March 2004, HMS Scylla was deliberately sunk off the coast of Cornwall, creating the first manmade reef in Europe. The shoreline that hugs Cornwall is teaming with wildlife. Ellie meets up with Dr Mark Briffa, a marine biologist from Plymouth University. He’s been delving into Cornwall’s rock pools to discover the personality traits of the humble hermit crab. • John Craven Investigates Campylobacter

    John Craven Investigates Campylobacter

Rates of food poisoning across the UK have been dropping in recent years, but there’s still one problem that is proving difficult to crack. The bacteria, campylobacter, has always been around in chicken, but - as we’re eating more of it – the number of people getting ill is increasing. If chicken is cooked correctly the bacteria will be killed off, however hundreds of thousands of food poisoning cases are now reported each year in Britain and, in a small minority of cases, campylobacter can cause death. John investigates what’s being done to tackle the problem.
