Barbara Pilcher and Jim Bradley at Hillsborough
We were out and about again this we...this time a little closer to home thanks to Hillsborough Horticultural Society who asked us to come to their February meeting and to bring the Roadshow. So we said yes please and thank you very much and on a fine Wednesday evening we found ourselves in Hillsborough's busy village centre with an informed and enthusiastic audience ready to put their questions to Barbara Pilcher and Jim Bradley.More pictures of the evening at Hillsborough on Facebook
And hey presto, within the time it took to ask 10 questions we were transported to 10 different gardens.
We were growing great potato...old varieties versus new varieties, waxy versus "balls of flour". We were striving to save "Pink Pearl" an ailing, much treasured 30 year old Rhododendron. We were in a magical new woodland wondering why the little beech trees were slow to grow. We were propagating tricky parsley, learning how to grow zesty lemongrass and wondering how to communicate the great feeling which comes from the "growing things bug" to the next generation of young gardeners...
They might like to try going along to Hillsborough Horticultural Society's next meeting which is on March 28th at 8 o'clock.
