Michael looks back on series 3
It was a great pleasure and honour to be part of BBC's House of the Year.
The entire team made this "new kid" feel so welcome! Each home told me a story about the owner. I think the variety of homes is what makes this series so successful. We weren't judging merely on how much money was spent, but rather on the overall home based on the "real life" criteria of what constitutes quality design - whether a home expresses the
personality of the homeowners, if it was designed to accommodate their lifestyle, how well it was thought out and whether the design makes bestuse of color, scale and texture.
I think each home truly had its own personality, much like the owners. It was an amazing experience and I thank the lovely people of Northern Ireland for opening their doors to me with such generosity.
