London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard (LLGS)
London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard provides an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men, bisexual and trans people, and anyone who needs to consider issues around their sexuality. The services includes a helpline, online chat through instant messaging, email support, information on sexual health, as well as the Turing Network database, a public access search facility that enables anyone to look for support or services catering for the LGBT community. Queer Youth Network
Queer Youth Network is a national non-profit making organisation that is run by and for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) and Queer young people, and is based in the United Kingdom. They aim to represent the needs and views of LGBT young people through campaigning for greater visibility and equal rights, as well as providing general support and information to those who are just 'coming out' or who are suffering the effects of homophobia. Terrence Higgins Trust
The Terrence Higgins Trust is an HIV and sexual health charity which offers a wide range of support services, including emotional support and information by phone, help with accessing HIV testing, treatment advice and counselling. Whatever your sexuality, HIV status, gender, cultural background or ethnic origin, THT has services set up with your needs in mind. They can offer support on issues specific to young LGBT people, including advice on coming out and what LGBT support services are available in your area. The Beaumont Society
The Beaumont Society is a national self-help body run by and for those who cross-dress or are transsexual. They welcome all transgender people and their partners, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, creed or colour, and all varieties from nervous new transgender people to those who are experienced and confident in their second gender. HOPELineUK
If you’re a young person and you’re considering suicide, or you feel depressed or like you’re not coping with life, HOPELineUK, provided by the organisation PAPYRUS, is a confidential helpline service staffed by trained professionals who can give support, practical advice and information. You can call the helpline on 0800 068 41 41. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm and again from 7.00pm to 10pm; at weekends, lines are open from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.. PAPYRUS can also offer help and advice if you’re concerned about someone you know.
Samaritans
The Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. Contact them by phone on 08457 90 90 90, 24 hours a day.
Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide
Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide exists to meet the needs and break the isolation of those bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or friend. Contact them by phone on 0844 561 6855, 9.00am to 9.00pm every day.
