Young Baker of the Year

Episode 1 of 6, Young Talent of the Year, 2011

Duration: 1 hour

The show that searches for the best in young hardworking British talent continues as four young bakers do whatever it takes to walk off with the title. With pastry, breadmaking, cake decorating and a gruelling theoretical grilling all on the menu, these young people must demonstrate more than just a flair with flour. In one of the most emotional finals of the series, the tension is increased by having an audience made up of family and friends.

Judging them are renowned cook and writer Gizzi Erskine, whose passion for all things baking is clear for all to see, and Gerhard Jenne, founder of Konditor and Cook, one of London's most eye-catching chain of cake shops. Neither are easy to please, and the four finalists have a difficult job proving that they are worthy of being crowned Young Baker of the Year.
