    Sound of the wild: Chris Watson's audio adventure

    Chris Watson is the natural history sound recordist on some of the most famous wildlife shows on television including David Attenborough's Frozen Planet.

    Born in Sheffield he was a founder member of experimental electronic music band Cabaret Voltaire.

    He then moved into television as a sound recordist at Tyne Tees Television and settled in Newcastle where he lives today.

    For the last few years Chris has been working on nature programmes where he gets up close to some of the wildest animals on the planet.

    He talks about what it is like to capture the contented purr of a cheetah in Kenya's Masai Mara.

    Chris Watson has worked on long running projects such as the BBC’s Frozen Planet.

    Whenever you see David Attenborough, you can be sure Chris Watson is lurking behind the camera.

    He also goes out to record the specific sounds needed to help create the amazing TV series.
